We have changed our drop/lock out time (previously 10:30 am) to 12:00 (noon).  Please note that if any paperwork is dropped off after 12:00 (noon) for Sunday pick up service you will be charged an additional $60.00 ’special pick up’ fee.

Also note, in the event of an attempted pick up of freight which is not available on Sunday, you will be charged a $50.00 ‘attempt’ fee.

Tax Airfreight, Inc. plans to move its growing FLYER Logistics Solutions division to the former 440th Air Reserve Base at General Mitchell International Airport, adding to Milwaukee County’s plans to develop the land into a business park.

The company is negotiating a lease for 2,500 square feet in an office building that housed officers in charge of surveillance. If Milwaukee County elected officials approve the lease, Tax-Air by May will move 12 FLYER Logistics Solutions employees to the building from its Milwaukee headquarters and plans to grow the division to 20 workers in the next 18 months, said Mark Zeidler, Tax-Air president and chief executive officer.

“We’re expecting this thing to ramp up at a 40 to 50 percent (rate),” Zeidler said.

The company would join three others with long-term leases at the former 440th base — Air Cargo Carriers LLC, Skywest Airlines Inc. and Hunger Task Force. Milwaukee County took over the 102-acre property on South Howell Avenue in July 2010 after the 440th Air Reserve Base closed. It is across South Howell Avenue from Tax-Air’s headquarters and terminal where 200 people work.

Tax-Air’s trucks cargo through three states and helps companies coordinate overseas airplane shipping. It started the FLYER Logistics Solutions division about 30 months ago to diversify its business. The division coordinates business-to-business shipping in the United States for customers.

Zeidler said the 440th fits with the military theme of the company’s marketing and office decor, which stems from chairman Greg Groth and FLYER Logistics Solutions general manager Mike Groth’s past military service. “Here we built this with this military Air Force theme and now the 440th becomes available,” Zeidler said of FLYER Logistics Solutions. “It was like, ‘Oh my God, this is all clicking for us, even just in terms of marketing.’”

Below is a notification of changes in our services due to weather for our Neenah and Minneapolis terminals for today: Wednesday, February 29, 2012.

Neenah-  Service to the U P area is cancelled today due to snow and freezing rain.  Services to the Wausau, Rhinelander and Antigo areas will only be running south of Highway 64. Our services to the Marinette area are being closely monitored and service to this area may be cancelled if conditions worsen.  Service to the Rhinelander and UP areas will resume on Friday, March 2,2012.

Minneapolis-  Service to the Eau Claire area will be cancelled today due to snow and freezing rain. Pick- up and Delivery Services will be limited to the Minneapolis Metro area only. Service to the entire Minneapolis area is expected to resume Thursday, March 1,2012.

Milwaukee: We will be servicing the Milwaukee, Waukesha , Racine,Kenosha  and,Ozaukee County areas on a normal service basis.

Any pickups and deliveries outside of these areas can still be provided by our expedited service team upon special request.

Chicago: We will be providing normal Delivery and Pickup services in ORD Airport /Freight Forwarding. As long as pick up paperwork is received by 1700.

Other Chicago areas will be serviced on a normal basis with prior /advance arrangements made on or before Wednesday, 11/23. Otherwise, late or outlying points can be serviced by our expedited team upon special request.

MSP/MSN/NEE:  These terminals will be providing normal AM deliveries and pickups for customers that have indicated that will be open for business .Any PM or outlying points can still be serviced by our expedited team upon special request.

Please note that service in our Eau Claire /Chippewa Falls, St Cloud, Rochester, and Mankato areas will not be performed on Friday November 25, 2011. Service to these areas will resume on Monday November 28, 2011.

Please note that our updated Certificate of Insurance will be mailed out on September 29, 2011

Tax-Air has also set its sights on expanding its non-asset-based FLYER Logistics Solutions Division—a move that has paid off handsomely for the company, as revenue has grown 10-fold over the past three years. “FLYER Logistics grew out of customer demand,” explained Mark Zeidler, Tax-Air’s president and CEO. “We realized that we needed new streams of revenue, and we listened to our customers. They were saying, ‘I love doing business with you, but what else could you do for me? I have less staff here. I need help. Your truck is already here. What else can we put on the truck?’” Added Mike Groth, the division’s general manager, “We’re a unique 3PL, providing a local ground solution to the air freight and ocean freight import/export community. Our customers enjoy the ease of transaction with us. Our experienced agents come from the air freight industry, speak the language, and quickly recognize what type of service is best for forwarders’ needs. According to Zeidler, the division relies on a strong network of strategic partners to support its logistics business. “Our growth is a clear indication we are on the right track. We are still planning growth of over 50 percent per year for the next few years as we continue to expand our services around the country,” he said.

To give their information-driven customers easy access to the realtime information they want, Tax-Air has also developed its flexible SWOOP online business center. “SWOOP gives Tax-Air’s legacy customers access to all their shipments. As we grow our logistics division, our customers can all go to the same site—a one-stop location for both local and national freight needs,” said Mike Groth. According to Greg Groth, Tax-Air chairman and founder, “SWOOP pulls information from our internal freight management system. Our drivers also have Nextel technology and GPS, so we can immediately upload a complete ‘chain of custody’ record, so customers can get real-time PODs. You’ve got to be able to seamlessly close out the transaction for them.” Added Mike Groth, “We’re here to work with forwarders who need, for example, to manage freight they’re importing from China. Once they get it to O’Hare Field, we want to help them get it to Cincinnati. We’ll take freight anywhere in the country. What we’re doing at O’Hare, we want to do in Atlanta, and New York and LAX. We’re building relationships with the importers, to be their final destination solution.”
